Some 300 experts met in Sirte, Libya, from December 15-17, 2008, for a high level conference to discuss challenges related to water for agriculture and energy in Africa.

The Bank, who co-organized the conference with FAO, also organized two key parallel events on AfDB's strategic approach on water for energy and agriculture and partnership for financing water for agriculture and energy in Africa.

At the opening of the conference, the Bank highlighted its initiatives, envisaged interventions and programs in support of development of water resources in Africa.
