Princess Astrid of Belgium Visits AfDB Headquarters in Abidjan Wednesday

Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire — Her Royal Highness, Princess Astrid of Belgium, accompanied by a high-level delegation of members of the country's federal and regional governments and business leaders, will make a working visit to the African Development Bank (AfDB) on Wednesday, 25 October 2017.

Belgium's Executive Director at the AfDB, Dominique Lebastard, AfDB Secretary-General, Vincent Nmehielle, Vice President Private Sector and Infrastructures, Pierre Guislain and AfDB Senior Vice President, Charles Boamah, will receive the Princess and her delegation at the Bank's headquarters in the Ivorian capital.

The Federal Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Didier Reynders, the Federal Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Pieter De Crem, and the Sister of His Majesty King Philippe of Belgium will hold a working session during which technical presentations will be made by AfDB Director-General for West Africa, Janvier Litse. Jean-François Valette, Ambassador of the European Union in Abidjan and Philippe Brown, Head of the Office of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Dakar (Senegal), will also participate in the session.

Interventions will also be made by Pierre Laporte, Director of Operations of the World Bank in Côte d'Ivoire, Cassandra Colbert, Regional Representative of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Luuk Zonneveld, Managing Director of the Belgian Investment Company for developing countries (BIO).

During her visit in Côte d'Ivoire, Princess Astrid will also be accompanied by Pierre-Yves Jeholet, Vice-President and Minister of the Economy, Industry, Research, Innovation, New Technologies, Employment and Training of Wallonia; Philippe Muyters, Minister of Labor, Economy, Innovation and Sport of Flanders, and Cécile Jodogne, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade and Investment of the Brussels-Capital Region and Minister of the French Community Commission for Health and the Public Service.

The leaders of more than 100 Belgian companies will participate in the working visit.
