When Bill Gates wrote for The World Economic Forum that if we solve the fossil-free electricity puzzle, it will not only eliminate 25% of all greenhouse emissions created by this industry, but...will act as a keystone to unlock the ability of other sectors, such as transportation, manufacturing, and buildings, to go carbon-free, he hadn't yet heard of Petroma's discovery of hydrogen in Mali, West Africa.

Canadian energy company Petroma Inc, led by Malian industrialist Aliou Boubacar Diallo, discovered the world's largest natural hydrogen deposit 60 kilometers from the Malian capital of Bamako, a find that has increasingly attracted some of planet's most forward-thinking business leaders interested in clean energy alternatives.

In Bloc 25 covering 43000 square kilometers, Petroma has affirmed massive quanities of 95% pure natural hydrogren, one of the most promising new sources needed for a global transition to clean energy, according to the French scientist Alain Prinzhofer at the l’Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris.

The company has undertaken the first project in to produce electricity from hydrogen without any C02 emissions, marking its role in contributing a new source of energy in the transition to a carbon-free world. Petroma's subsidiary Hydroma, created to exploit hydrogen-generated clean electricity represents an exciting economic opportunity for Mali as an emerging energy producer.
