The African Development Bank, African Union Commission (AUC) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Regional Collaboration Centre in Kampala will jointly organize a virtual high-level webinar titled Green Recovery, Green Jobs, and Inclusive Growth in Africa on Wednesday 7 September 2022.

Dr. Vanessa Ushie, Acting Director of the Africa Natural Resources Management and Investment Centre, and Dr. Al-Hamndou Dorsouma, Officer in Charge, Climate Change and Green Growth, invite participants to join this important policy dialogue. The webinar presents a platform for sharing lessons and best practices on how Africa can use the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic to transition to a green economy and drive green job growth.

The webinar's anticipated outcomes include:

A stock-taking of the current trends in Africa's green recovery and growth, including success cases and challenges, toward envisioning a long-term green economy plan.

An assessment of the barriers to implementation of a green economy and green jobs, and of measures to overcome these barriers, including specific reforms, and the role that governments and private sector actors will play.

Highlighting specific examples and experiences that can be leveraged in accelerating actions across the continent.

Sensitizing participants on the barriers and opportunities that exist as part of the green recovery, green economy and green jobs creation value chains to drive an accelerated recovery.

The webinar is the third in the series Mainstreaming Natural Capital in Africa's Post-COVID-19 Development Agenda. The series is organized by the Joint Implementation Committee of the Natural Capital for African Development Finance programme (NC4-ADF), in collaboration with the African Development Bank, the Green Growth Knowledge Platform and the World Wide Fund for Nature.
