Nairobi — Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale says retired President Uhuru Kenyatta should emulate his predessors and keep off active politics.

Duale made the statement after Kenyatta visited the Jubilee Party headquarters following a stand-off between Jeremiah Kioni and Kanini Kega who are fighting over its leadership.

In a statement on Twitter, Duale stated that Kenyatta should respect his standing position in society and called it disgusting and disgraceful for him to criticize officers over a party that lost (Jubilee).

"It's appalling the depths the former President has fallen to the extent he rudely castigates police officers on official duty protecting life and property, it's disconcerting as it is ironic that Uhuru is scoffing at police officers while pretending to be imploring on them to keep peace." he said.

"The former President should respect his standing in society and emulate the former Presidents by keeping off active politics and sullying his name by engaging in petty politics."

He added that Uhuru should stop participating in active politics and instead follow the example set by his predecessors because his continuing involvement was tarnishing his reputation with petty politics.

"It is despicable to see a former President who after having served two full terms reduces his stature by fighting over a shell of a party that presided over misrule, wanton looting of public coffers and extrajudicial killings during the infamous rogue handshake regime," Duale said.

During Uhuru's administration, Duale led as the Majority leader in the National Assembly and the Jubilee Party, according to him, is "dead."

He emphasized that Uhuru should stop damaging his reputation by attempting to revive it and instead leave that to the elected MPs.

Shortly after, the Former President addressed journalist where he bashed the National Police Administrations for being used to settle political scores instead of undertaking their mandate independently.

"I want to ask our police officers to kindly follow the law and we have seen you so many times following the path of violating the law. Please adhere to justice because you pledged to protect the country and the people," said Kenyatta.

Kenyatta who was visibly angered questioned why the police meddled with the internal affairs of the Jubilee party further disrupting the peace and serene in the community neighboring the party headquarters.

"This property is not ours we have only rented it. We have neighbors surrounding this building yet you have thrown teargas at them so that you can take the house by force. That's not right, that's not the law," he said.

Police on Wednesday were forced to lob teargas outside Jubilee Party headquarters in Nairobi to disperse supporters of Jeremiah Kioni and Kanini Kega who are fighting over a party takeover.
