The Bank is organising this webinar as part of the annual celebration of the International Day of Forests on 21 March. This year's theme is "Forests and innovation: New solutions for a better world."

Most wood products from Africa are still exported raw to Asia, Europe and America. Further processing and increased intra-African trade of wood and wood products would however generate greater revenues for governments and the private sector.

This webinar will discuss the results of a study on timber trade flows and trends in all five regions of Africa and offer insights into the dynamics and patterns of the timber trade on the continent to give policymakers a better understanding of the industry's economic impact and value creation opportunities.

Evidence-based information for policy and strategic interventions at national and regional levels is critical to boost Africa's share of exports of raw and value-added wood and wood products.
