The Government of Nigeria, African Development Bank, International Finance Corporation, and Unitaid will co-convene the 2024 Industry Engagement "Access to Health Innovation" Forum from May 7-9, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria.
The forum will focus on unlocking healthcare value chains, including for pharmaceutical products and driving investment through partnerships to accelerate equitable access to quality-assured sustainable health products as an enabler for universal health coverage. It aims to establish the urgent need for stakeholders to consolidate current efforts to create sustainable regional value chains for quality health products and services.
Participants will include major stakeholders within the ecosystem to accelerate access to health products -- West African Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (WAPMA), WHO, the Medicines Patent Pool (MPP), the Global Fund, USAID, PEPFAR, UNICEF, global and regional pharmaceutical manufacturers, research and development networks, the Federation of African Manufacturers' Associations (FAPMA), Africa CDC -- regulatory agencies and foundations working on access to medicines and diagnostics, AUDA-NEPAD, communities, and civil society organizations, among others.
The event will feature discussions about the ongoing efforts of key stakeholders, identifying product-specific opportunities, learning about partners' investment plans and financing tools, facilitating and identifying investment opportunities through strategic partnerships.
The Nigerian government is co-hosting through its Presidential Initiative on Unlocking Healthcare
Value Chains (PVAC), which is part of the Federal Ministry of Health & Social Welfare.
This is the third industry forum to be organized by the African Development Bank, following the holding of successful pharmaceutical investment forums in Egypt in October 2023 and February 2024.
