Nigeria: Gombe Approves N20bn for 18.5km Road Projects

The Gombe State Government has approved N20 billion for the construction, upgrade and dualisation of township roads in the Gombe metropolis.

The Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Maijama'a Kallamu, stated this while briefing newsmen after the state executive council meeting presided over by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

He said the roads, totalling 18.5 kilometres, include the road network in the BAP 4 area and the dualisation of FTH junction to FCE (T) Gombe roundabout along Ashaka Road.

He added that the council also approved N1.5 billion for emergency repair works along Dukku-Dokoro Road in Dukku Local Government Area, to repair six cell culverts washed away by rain.

Kallamu explained that two-span concrete bridges would be constructed, adding that the work would be completed within 16 weeks.

The commissioner added that the council has also approved the procurement of 2,500 metric tons of fertiliser to be sold at N22,000 as against the market price of N45,000.
