What: Seminar for French-speaking civil society organizations in West and Central Africa

Where: Hotel Novotel, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, and online.

The African Development Bank's Independent Review Mechanism (IRM) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will host a regional seminar focused on strengthening accountability and protecting human rights for sustainable development for civil society bodies in West and Central Africa.

The two-day event, scheduled for 24-25 June 2024, will take place at the Novotel Hotel in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. It will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person and virtual participation.

The seminar is organized in partnership with the Ivorian Civil Society Convention, Lumière synergie pour le développement, and the Network of West African NGO Platforms to promote accountability in executing large-scale development projects. It will also equip communities, human rights defenders and French-speaking civil society organizations with tools to better protect community rights.

The seminar will bring together civil society representatives from eleven francophone countries: Côte d'Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Togo, Senegal, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Gabon.
