When: Thursday, May 29th, 2025; 15h45- 17h30 GMT

Where: "Salle Des Fetes" in Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire, Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire

As part of the 2025 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group, this side event will explore how African countries can leverage digital technologies to enhance domestic resource mobilization (DRM). In response to rising fiscal needs and shifting economic landscapes, digital platforms--such as e-Tax and e-Customs systems--are proving essential for improving tax compliance, streamlining customs processes, and strengthening public financial governance.

The event will serve as a platform for peer-to-peer learning among public officials, private sector leaders, and development partners. Through knowledge exchange and the presentation of successful digital tools, participants will examine scalable technological solutions to improve tax and customs administration, reduce inefficiencies, and broaden the tax base.

Objectives include:

  • Identifying technological solutions that improve tax compliance and customs efficiency
  • Showcasing country-level experiences and lessons learned
  • Promoting private sector engagement in digitalization efforts
  • Facilitating South-South cooperation for Domestic Resource Mobilization.

Confirmed sessions include:

  • Opening Remarks from AfDB Leadership and Partners
  • High-Level Panel: Harnessing Technology for Domestic Revenue Mobilization
  • Panel Discussion: The Role of the Private Sector in Advancing Digital Revenue Solutions

Join us for this dynamic and forward-looking conversation on how technology can drive more efficient, inclusive, and resilient domestic resource mobilization in Africa.
