Highlights of AfDB President's Official Visit to Sudan

The President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, just concluded an official visit to Sudan from February 26 to March 1, 2017. He met with top Government officials, including President Omar Al-Bashir; Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Badr El-Din Mahmoud Abbas; and the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Hazim Abdelgadir Ahmed Babikier. His visit also included tours of the Kenana Sugar Company, the world's largest producer of white sugar, as well as the Garri Power Station located in Khartoum. More on AfDB in this BRIEFING

President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, kicked off his visit to Sudan with a courtesy call on the Minister of Finance of Economic Planning, Badreldin Mahmoud Abass, on February 26, 2017. The hour-long meeting, which concluded with a press conference, touched on important issues that underscore the bilateral cooperation between the Bank and its country of birth, the Sudan, where it was born some 53 years ago.

On February 28, 2017, the President of the African Development Bank visited the Kenana Sugar Company (KSC) in Sudan, which is by far Africa’s largest sugar-producing agro-industrial complex and world’s largest producer of white sugar.
