Ugandan Police Warned Ill-Fated Party Boat Not to Launch

The Daily Monitor reports that Buganda Kingdom Prince David Wasajja and others refused to abide by police instructions not to set out. A police spokesperson says officers told the group that the boat had been grounded for three months, but the journey continued. The MV Templar capsized about 100 metres from Mutima Beach on Lake Victoria. At least 31 people were killed, 27 people were rescued and an unknown number of passengers are still missing.
