Student Shot Dead In Protests at South African University

Police have opened a case of murder and public violence after the death of a 20-year old student at the Durban University of Technology, the SABC reports. The 20-year old died in hospital on Tuesday after being shot during an altercation with security guards on the institution's Steve Biko campus. According to police, the security guards intervened after a group of about 30 students stoned the administration building.
