In response to the high volume of Nigerian businesses now advertising and selling their products online, the 8th Senate of Nigeria created the Electronic Transactions Bill to provide a legal and regulatory framework for conducting transactions using electronic or related media. The Bill, which as since been passed and signed into law, seeks to protect the rights of consumers/parties and their personal data as well as the facilitation of electronic commerce in Nigeria.
