South African Govt, Unions Set for Battle Over Workers' Jobs?
Unions and the government are coming closer to a full-blown confrontation over wages and the number of people employed in the public sector. Finance Minister Tito Mboweni's announcement in his budget speech that the public sector wage bill will be cut by U.S.$10 billion over the next three years, has not been favourably met by union federation, the Congress of South African Trade Unions.
