DR Congo's Last Ebola Patient Discharged from Treatment Centre

After months of battling an Ebola virus outbreak that killed more than 2,200 people, UN officials are "cautiously optimistic" that the epidemic in the northeast Democratic Republic of the Congo will soon be history. In an emotional ceremony, the last Ebola patient in the DRC was discharged from the treatment centre in Beni, the World Health Organization reported. With no more confirmed cases, a 42-day countdown to declaring the end of the world's second-deadliest Ebola epidemic began on March 2.
