South African President Announces Gradual Lifting of Lockdown

Restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 will be eased starting on  May 1, 2020 so that parts of the economy can reopen, President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced. He said the government had developed a five-level approach to determine the measures that should be in place, based on the direction of the pandemic in the country.
