Buhari Taps Veteran Nigerian Diplomat As Top Presidential Aide

Ambassador Ibrahim Gambari, who spent two decades in senior positions at the United Nations, has been selected by President Muhammadu Buhari for the powerful post of Presidential Chief of Staff, succeeding Abba Kyari, who died last month from COVID-19 complications. After retiring from international service, Gambari founded a think tank in Nigeria, the Savannah Centre, and served in various diplomatic and academic posts. In an AllAfrica interview just after Buhari was inaugurated in 2015, Gambari shared reflections on his service as foreign minister when Buhari was military ruler in 1984-85. Below is the interview and other articles from and about the veteran diplomat in the AllAfrica archive.
