COVID-19 Measures Slow Down South Sudan Peacebuilding Process

The spread of COVID-19 has hampered the movement of mediators in a peace process that requires trust-building through face-to-face meetings, Ismail Wais, the Inter-governmental Authority on Development Special Envoy for South Sudan, has said. There are also challenges in the timely monitoring and verification of reports on violations of the permanent ceasefire and transitional security arrangements.
