Pay Black Women Healthcare Workers - the Backbone of the Sector

It will take the average professional nurse 65 years to earn the annual salary of a chief executive officer of one of the private hospital groups in South Africa, according to an Oxfam report. Taking a closer look at inequalities in the South African health sector, the report comes a few months after the country reported its first case of COVID-19, and finds that the poor treatment of healthcare workers compromised the quality of healthcare, which resulted in a healthcare system ill-prepared for shocks such as the novel coronavirus pandemic.
