Africans Aren't Waiting for a Handout - They're Moving Forward

Images of impoverished people, perhaps in refugee camps, waiting listlessly for international assistance to save their lives, are a staple of global media coverage. The president and CEO of a U.S. government development organization sees a different Africa - one where local creativity, resilience and entrepreneurship are transforming communities, even amid a pandemic, and where respectful assistance goes a long way to support those efforts.
