African Refugees Hope Biden Win Could Help Rebuild Lives

President-elect Joe Biden has promised to raise the refugee quota, after the numbers plummeted under current President Donald Trump's administration. He raised hopes of resettlement for refugees from Asia to Africa, many of whom are in countries where they are denied work and education and have no formal status. The UN refugee agency has said that at least 1,4 million refugees are awaiting third-country resettlement in 2021, but countries have offered only a fraction of the places needed. Biden, who is awaiting for a court ruling on the election results in a case brought by incumbent Trump, is expected to try and reverse much of Trump's immigration legacy, including travel bans on 13 countries that are either majority Muslim, or African nations.
