Staggered Learning as Ugandan Schools Prepare to Reopen
All primary pupils and secondary school learners will start the academic year in a staggered format from March 1 to mid-June 2021, according to a leaked draft government master plan. The first group of learners will be the semi-candidates whose studies will commence on March 1 for three months to the first week of June, 2021. This new format is to help prevent overcrowding, which could accelerate the spread of Covid-19, according to senior education ministry officials. All education institutions were closed in March 2020 because of the pandemic.
