Construction Starts on Nigeria-Niger Railway Project

President Muhammadu Buhari has officially launched the U.S.$1,9 billion Nigeria and Niger Republic rail line project. The new rail corridor will run through three states: Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina and through to Niger's Maradi. The project is being executed by a Portuguese multinational engineering, and construction company Mota-Engil Group. The railway line is set to enhance import and export trade between Nigeria, Niger Republic, and neighboring countries when completed in 2023.
