Corrupt Health Officials Mar Kenya's Covid-19 Fight
While Kenya's health system has been stretched to its limit in 2021, corrupt health ministry officials have established an intricate network of cartels selling donated Covid-19 vaccines for as much as U.S.$177,38 (20,000 shillings) per vial, writes Angela Oketch and Amina Wako for a Sunday Nation investigation.
The network specifically targets the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is preferred by most Kenyans who do not want to make a second visit to vaccination centres.
In October 2021, President Uhuru Kenyatta lifted the dusk-to-dawn curfew that was in effect since March 2020.
