Fighting Flares In Sudan With Village Attack and Grenade Blast

At least 20 people were killed and dozens were wounded, when a number of villages were burned in a renewed attack near Seleia, the local capital of Jebel Moon locality in West Darfur, on March 13, 2022. It has been described as a series of systemic attacks aimed at controlling resources.

Police have also confirmed that five people died and at least 25 others were injured in a grenade explosion in Um Dafug locality in South Darfur, while at a social gathering.

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Sudan, and head of the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan, Volker Perthes, has appealed to all parties to put an end to the current wave of violence that is destabilising the country, saying that "those responsible must be held accountable".
