Ethiopia's Meaza Mohammed Is an International Woman of Courage

Meaza Mohammed's commitment to advocating for victims of gender-based violence and her push for accountability earned her recognition by the U.S. as one of its 2023 International Women of Courage, reports Simegnish Yekoye for Voice of America.

Mohammed is the co-founder and chief editor of Roha TV. Despite harassment, threats and a third arrest related to the coverage on her YouTube-based news channel, she says she is committed to being a voice for the women affected by Ethiopia's recently-ended civil war in the northern part of the country - between Ethiopia and Tigray region.
