Kenya Mourns as Dozens of Lives Lost In Londiani Crash

President William Ruto has sent his condolences to loved ones of the over 50 people killed in a horrific accident on Friday, June 30, 2023.

It is alleged that a large truck veered off a major highway, ploughing into other vehicles, pedestrians and traders at a market in the town of Londiani in Kericho county.

Kericho Governor Erick Mutai said on July 1, 2023 that those killed in the truck crash included 2 children, 18 women and 31 men.

Police have said more bodies are expected to be found at the crash site.

41 people who died from the accident have been identified by their relatives.

Londiani Sub-County Hospital Medical Superintendent, Collins Kipkoech said 18 of the identified bodies have been collected by relatives pending burial preparations.

Also killed in the accidents were boda boda riders and traders who were selling produce on the roadside.
