Liberian Youth Rally for Peaceful Polls

Youth leagues of various political parties in Liberia are gearing up to make a historic peace declaration on fostering harmony in the lead-up to the October 10, 2023 presidential and legislative elections.

Monetta Yhap of 'The Most Beautiful Girl in Liberia 2023' said the plan is a symbol of hope, signifying a dedication to reducing tension and promoting unity among the youth, thereby establishing a positive atmosphere for the upcoming election.

A staunch member of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) governing council, Chief Cyril Allen, has also called on politicians and electorate to uphold peace. This comes as Grand Cape Mount County Senator, Simeon Taylor is also calling for the Liberia National Police to increase its presence in all 15 counties to ensure peaceful elections.

The U.S. government has also reiterated it's call for free, fair and peaceful elections, urging the Liberian government to hold accountable, those that would attempt to disrupt the process.
