Zimbabwean Leadership Slams Call for 'Neocolonial' Poll Rerun

Opposition party the Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) says Zimbabwe will soon conduct another election through a transitional authority headed by the South African Development Community and which will be managed by an "independent and professional" electoral body.

However, Zanu-PF Treasurer General Patrick Chinamasa dispelled hopes for a transitional government or rerun, describing calls for another election as "neocolonial".

President Emmerson Mnangagwa won 52.6% of the presidential vote against main contender CCC President Nelson Chamisa's 44%, but Mnangagwa's re-election received massive criticism after alleged bungling by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.
