Ghana's Ruling Party Gets New Leader

The ruling New Patriotic Party is now led by the country's vice-president, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The election of Bawumia as the leader of the NPP makes him the first person not of Akan descent to be elevated to that position, since the establishment of the party some 30 years ago, and he will lead the party over the next four years.
