Nigerian Military Dismisses Coup Rumours

The Nigerian army has denied claims of an impending coup plot within its ranks as categorically false.

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) response comes after a report from Sahara Reporters suggested that the Presidential Guard, an elite unit responsible for protecting the president, was mobilized due to coup suspicions.

The DHQ asked the public to disregard the report and emphasized its unwavering commitment to safeguarding democracy in Nigeria. The backdrop to these developments includes a severe economic crisis in the West African country, with concerns about Nigeria being at a tipping point.
