UN-Led Donor Conference on Ethiopia Falls Short of Target

A United Nations-led donor conference in Geneva has raised almost $630 million to assist millions of Ethiopians impacted by climate change and conflict. The money however falls short of the $1 billion the UN said was urgently needed to tackle the crisis in Africa's second-largest country where over 21 million people require assistance amid an escalating food shortage. A two-year war that erupted in the country's northern Tigray region in 2020 has killed thousands, displaced millions, and created famine-like conditions.
