Deep Divisions As Kenya Govt Plans to Borrow Billions for Budget

The Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung'u has announced the government's intention during the 2024-2025 Budget reading in Parliament. In addition to domestic borrowing, the government is projecting to secure Sh333.8 billion in foreign debt.

Opposition MPs are criticizing the Budget, with Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi arguing that it fails to address the persistent Budget deficit, resulting in excessive borrowing and heavy taxation.
