Nigeria's Biafra Head Mulls Out-of-Court Settlement to End Trial

The detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has indicated his interest in exploring an out-of-court settlement on the terrorism charges against him.

Kanu has been in custody since his arrest in Kenya in June 2021.

The court has refused to release him because Secret Service regulations mean the defendant must remain detained while the trial lasts. Nigerian authorities have declared IPOB a "terrorist organization".
