Kenya Orders TikTok To Remove Child Sexual Abuse Content

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has ordered social media giant TikTok to remove sexual abuse content involving minors from its platform, after a BBC investigation that exposed child exploitation through livestreams in Kenya.

CA Director General David Mugonyi has condemned the violations, saying that they contravene both Kenyan and international laws on child protection and online safety. As part of its crackdown, CA has launched a formal inquiry to assess the extent of the breaches and ensure accountability.

TikTok is the third most popular social media platform in Kenya after Facebook and WhatsApp.
