Torrential Rains and Flooding Leave Dozens Dead In DR Congo

Flooding and erosion caused by torrential rains have left at least 33 people dead in Kinshasa, according to reports. The death toll, however, remains provisional.
Mont-Ngafula, Ngaliema, Barumbu, Limete, Matete, and Masina are reported to be the worst-affected municipalities.

Interior Minister Jacquemain Shabani said the army, the General Directorate of Migration, the Waterways Authority, and the General Directorate of Customs and Excise have been called up to ensure the transportation of people living in the submerged areas to identified reception sites.
