Death Toll From Ethiopia Landslide Mounts As Search Continues

The death toll from the devastating landslide in Ethiopia's Gamo region continues to rise, with the latest estimates indicating that more than 100 people have been killed. The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has expressed solidarity with the Ethiopian people while praising the efforts of emergency responders and humanitarian workers.

Triggered by heavy rainfall in southern Ethiopia, the floods and landslides have forced thousands from their homes, with authorities warning that further disasters remain possible as torrential rains continue to lash East Africa. Similar weather patterns have claimed dozens of lives in neighboring Kenya in recent days.
