First Bank Wins Western Union International Award

Western Union Nigeria is proud to announce that longstanding Agent, First Bank of Nigeria Plc, has been awarded the Western Union Club 500 “Highest Improvement” Award for 2006. The Award was presented at a prestigious ceremony in Rome, Italy, by Hikmet Ersek, Executive Vice President & Managing Director, Western Union Europe, Middle East, Africa and South Asia .

The Club 500, a brainchild of Western Union is a prestigious club of top Western Union Agent locations chosen from the global network of over 305,000 (including Orlandi Valuta and Vigo) spread across 200 countries and territories. Every year, mystery shoppers commissioned by Western Union visit these top locations to assess them on several criteria that span the entire business process and the level of service excellence.

12 of the Western Union locations in Nigeria are members of the Club 500 programme, with 8 of them belonging to First Bank - Marina, Niger House, Benin King’s Square, Benin Siluko, Benin Mission Road, Benin Ugbowo, Enugu Main and Owerri Main branches.

After the assessment and audit of the locations, winners with the highest scores emerged as winners in three categories including the “Highest Improvement” category which was won by the First Bank Benin Siluko locations, amongst other locations so rated in Europe, Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

This is the first time that such an award has been won by a Western Union Agent in Nigeria. The award was bestowed in recognition of First Bank’s efforts in achieving exceptional customer service amongst Western Union Agents.

The Award was received by Alex Otti, the Bank’s Executive Director, South who was accompanied by the Head of Western Union Department, Feyi Adebayo.   Also present at the ceremony was Western Union Product Coordinator, Taiwo Oladimeji-Yisa; Branch Manager, Benin Siluko, Taiwo Gapriya-Musa, Western Union Operations Manager, Joseph Ojo, Product Manager Benin, Emomine Amagre and Benin Siluko Operator and Teller staff, Messrs Afolabi Oyetunji and Edeoghon Olumese.
