First African Ministerial Forum On the Integration of ICTs in Education and Training to Take Place in Tunisia

The First Ministerial Forum on the Integration of Information and Communication technologies (ICTs) in Education and Training in Africa will be held in Tunis, December 9-11, 2013.

The Forum is organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), INTEL and the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), under the auspices of the Tunisian Ministry of Education.

The initiative seeks to help African Ministries of Education and Training harness the strategic use of ICTs to accelerate the transformation of education and training systems and hence support the development of the knowledge and skills needed for Africa's sustainable development.

The forum will begin with a one day high-level policy workshop (December 9), followed by a ministerial meeting (December 10-11).

The ministerial meeting will be opened on December 10 by the Tunisian minister of Information and Communication Technology, Mongi Marzouk. It will end with a ministerial panel, which will issue the Forum's recommendations. The Forum will be officially closed by the Tunisian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Moncef Ben Salem.
