Under the aegis of the State Ministry, Ministry of Planning and Development, the country Community of Practice on Managing for development results (CoP-MfDR Côte d'Ivoire) has organized a learning and planning workshop from October 12-15, 2015 in Grand Bassam on "Sectorial training of the National Development Plan (NDP 2016-2020) on operational planning" in the context of the action plan of Managing for Development Results (MfDR) in Côte d'Ivoire.
This training workshop brings together the main players at the technical level administrations, public institutions and non-state actors and aims at contributing to improving the integration of MfDR into development policies. The goal is to educate and train the actors at ministerial and parliamentary levels, the private sector and civil society on the importance of managing for development results, including monitoring and evaluation of the public action.
This training workshop will be opened on October 12, 2015 by the State Minister, Minister of Planning and Development and will be attended by 40 senior Government representatives, parliamentarians, and civil society leaders.
The event is supported by the Africa for Results initiative (AfriK4R) housed within the Quality Assurance and Results Department of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group. The Africa for Results (AfriK4R) initiative of the African Community of Practice (AfCoP), of which Côte d'Ivoire is a member, seeks to help accelerate regional integration, establish effective public financial systems, facilitate trade and improve the business climate on the African continent through knowledge and best practice exchange on managing for development results (MfDR) between member states of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
The training workshop represents one of the activities of Côte d'Ivoire's AfriK4R roadmap on results-based management. Stakeholders will be trained on results-based management principles and practices. During this workshop, working groups composed of representatives from 3-4 sectorial ministries, will be formed to carry on concrete ways of mainstreaming MfDR in each ministry or sector.
Côte d'Ivoire is considering managing for development results (MfDR) as instrumental in implementing its national development plan. Effective leadership from the top for development results brings about more capacity to plan, budget, implement, monitor and accountability for the outcomes achieved. It is expected that areas to implement rapid results initiatives will be initiatives and backed by Ministers following this workshop.

The African Community of Practice (AfCoP) is a coalition of over 4,000 development leaders and practitioners from 68 countries globally. AfCoP members work for African governments, civil society, and as independent experts in the field. The African Development Bank (AfDB), in partnership with the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), is supporting AfCoP in mainstreaming MfDR on the continent with a focus on regional integration.
The Africa for Results (AfriK4R) initiative, AfCoP's flagship program, aims to promote regional integration in Africa through the use of managing for development results (MfDR) principles and practices. To date, 17 countries have committed to the AfriK4R initiative, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cote d'Ivoire, DR Congo, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The WAEMU and COMESA regional economic communities are also partners on the AfriK4R initiative.
