Opposition United Party (UP) recently locked down in Central Liberia, Bong County to elect the new leadership that will take them to the 2023 National and Presidential election in October.

Many persons of the Unity Party expressed their interest to head the institution that wants to take over from the ruling coalition government.

The convention is over and new members have been given the authority, but like any other election, it is expected that there's some level of disunity in the Unity Party.

The new chair, Rev. Luther Tarpeh extended an olive branch to his members in his quest to unite the party before 2023 election.

On his official social media page ( Facebook), Rev. Tarpeh said, "Now that the election is over, we must unite to move our party forward. The next 15 months are very crucial."

According to him, now that the elections are over, it is time to heal the wounds of the elections and come together to make the Unity Party a strong and vibrant political institution.

He indicated that the Liberian people are looking up to them to rescue the country, "A mission we cannot trivialize. With God by our side, the mission will be accomplished."

The new chairperson did not forget the role played by their party's former chair, businessman Ami Modad and his team.

He said I want to thank the Unity Party's delegates for a peaceful election in Gbanga Bong County. I want to personally thank former chairman Modad for congratulating me on the occasion of my ascendency as the new chairman of the Unity Party."

He added, "I appreciate your personal contribution to the growth and development of our party under your leadership. Please be assured Mr. Modad and Mo Ali that we look forward to working with you to achieve this noble objective for our beloved motherland."
