Nigeria: How Mechanic Who Killed Octogenarian, Wife in Abuja Was Nabbed - CP

The FCT Commissioner of Police (CP), Benneth Igweh, has disclosed how a mechanic, Jonathan Marcus, who allegedly stabbed an 80-year-old, Adebola Ezekiel, and his wife, Abiodun Ezekiel, to death in their residence at the Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja.

Mr Igweh, while parading the suspect alongside other suspects over the weekend, said Marcus often worked as a chauffeur of the victims.

He said police operatives began an investigation immediately after the incident was reported on March 31, 2024, and were able to track and arrest the suspect in his hideout in Obajana, Kogi State.

He said the suspect confessed during interrogation to having access to the victims' house and slitting their throats and taking away their phones and ATM cards.

Similarly, the CP said two other suspects were arrested in the Mabushi area of Abuja while trying to bury the corpse of one Balkisu Mohammed who died after the suspects wrongly prescribed drugs for her.

He said, "The deceased, Balkisu Mohammed, earlier visited the house of her supposed boyfriend, who eventually travelled to Kano and left her in the care of the suspects. As she fell sick, the suspects allegedly gave her unprescribed drugs which led to her death."

He added that nine suspected armed robbers were also arrested by operatives of the Utako Division.
