Nigeria: Two Killed in Fresh Ogun Cult Clash

23 April 2024

Two people have been reportedly killed by suspected cultists in a clash between members of the Eiye and Aye confraternity groups in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

It was gathered that the victims were killed in different parts of Abeokuta on Sunday when members of rival cult groups went on a rampage and engaged one another in bloody clashes.

Our correspondent reports that the killings occurred barely three weeks after a popular tout and a member of the Aye confraternity group, identified as Olumide Ifeoluwa, was shot dead by suspected members of the Eiye cult group.

The Sunday killing was in retaliation of the death of Ifeoluwa, it was learnt.

The first victim, a suspected member of the Eiye cult group, was shot dead at Alogi junction in the Obantoko area of Abeokuta while the second victim, a member of the Aye confraternity group, who was identified as Timo Olukayode, was killed at Bode-Olude, also in Abeokuta.

The police spokesman in the state, Omolola Odutola, said she had not been briefed on the incident.

She promised to get back to our correspondent immediately she received information on the killings from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the area.
