Makoko residents vow to protest murder of their chief by police

The on-going demolition of shanties in the Makoko area of Lagos took a new twist on Saturday as one of the local chiefs in the area, the Otun Baale of Begun, Timothy Azinpono was shot dead by a police officer on marine patrol duty.

The head of the community, Francis Agoyon, has been reacting to the demolition as well as the alleged killing, saying the Lagos state government should look into the matter.
