A new party could be contesting next year's general elections. Struggle activist, academic and businesswoman Mamphela Ramphele announced her return to active politics today. Her new Agang SA movement is still in its infancy, but she now plans to travel the country drumming up support.

The hard work begins for Mamphela Ramphele as she returns to politics. Her political platform, Agang SA, will take part in the general elections next year.

There has been mixed reaction to Mamphela Ramphele's announcement. While the ANC believes her movement will have no impact on their dominance, opposition parties are cautiously optimistic.
