Nigeria's New Anti-Gay Law: a Ploy for Political Points?

Nigerian activists say the country's new anti-gay law could have negative consequences for gay people in Nigeria and beyond. President Goodluck Jonathan signed the measure which criminalizes same sex marriage, and effectively outlaws gay organizations. VOA spoke with human rights lawyer Hausa Ibrahim, a winner of the Sakharov prize. She says while most Nigerians aren't ready for gay marriage, gay people deserve the same level of freedom and respect. VOA's Vincent Makori reports.
