The Coalition for Dialogue on Africa (CoDA), an initiative supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), will hold its 4th Board meeting on 25 May 2010 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

The Meeting, which will take place just before the AfDB Group Annual Meetings, will present a report of the activities undertaken by CoDA's Interim Secretariat and set out it work plan for the coming months.

The CoDA Board, which is chaired by former President of Botswana, Festus Mogae, will also host a seminar on financing regional integration in Africa.

"The 4th CoDA Board meeting and the forum on Financing Regional Integration are two major events. CoDA decided to organize them on the eve of the AfDB Annual Meetings to ensure greater participation of stakeholders in development issues in Africa," said Lamin Manneh of the NEPAD, Regional Integration and Trade Department of the Bank.

An informal and inclusive platform for dialogue, CoDA collaborates with other international institutions working on Africa's development issues such as regional integration, the global financial crisis, good governance and climate change.

"Regional integration occupies a special place in CoDA's agenda which aims to contribute to the redefinition of new paradigms for Africa's development. In other words, the seminar is of utmost importance to us. The decision to hold our Board of Directors meeting at the same time as the forum on the financing of regional integration is not fortuitous," said Professor Abdoulaye Bathily, the CoDA Concener.

After its launch in March 2009 in Addis Ababa, CoDA held a seminar on transnational crime and its consequences on the development of Africa, in Abuja, in October of the same year. At the initiative of the coalition, a meeting on the international financial crisis and its impact on Africa was also held last November in Tunis.

CoDA's agenda for 2010 includes several other activities, including a seminar on the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM).

In addition to former President Mogae, the CoDA Board of Directors includes the Mr. Donald Kaberuka, President of the AfDB, Mr. Jean Ping, Chairperson of the AUC, Mr. Abdoulie Janneh, Executive Secretary of the ECA, Mr. Cheick Modibo Diarra, Microsoft Chairman for the Middle East and Africa, Mr. Walter Fust, Director General of the Global Humanitarian Forum, Mrs. Frene Ginwala, former South African National Assembly Speaker, Mr. Mo Ibrahim, Chairman of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, Speciosa Wandira Kazibwe, former Uganda Vice-President, Paul Martin, former Canadian Prime Minister, Mr. Martin Khor, Director of Third World Network and Professor Abdoulaye Bathily, the Convener and Ag. CEO of CoDA.
