AfDB President Holds an Official Meeting With the President of Togo

On November 2, 2015, the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina, attended a meeting with Faure Gnassingbé, the President of Togo, during an official working visit to the country.

The meeting was the second invitation extended to the President of the AfDB by the Togolese Head of State in the space of two months, signalling the high esteem in which President Gnassingbé and Togo hold the Bank. During their meeting, the Head of State expressed his pleasure at the positive relationship between his country and the AfDB. The two men discussed a range of issues, including energy for all, the development of agricultural value chains, agricultural supplies, and coastal erosion in Lomé.

Adesina applauded the Togolese Government's work to strengthen the country's macro-economic framework and reiterated the Bank's commitment to continue supporting the country in its efforts to improve living conditions among its population.

The President of the AfDB also held a meeting with Christian Adovelande, President of the West African Development Bank (BOAD), with the BOAD's head office having housed the AfDB's country office in Togo since January 16, 2012. Adesina reiterated his commitment to strengthening the partnership and cooperation between their respective institutions, with a view to supporting regional integration.
