High-level speakers from the G5 Sahel and the Sahel Alliance will attend a conference to launch a report marking three years of the Sahel Alliance. The African Development Bank is a founding member of the Sahel Alliance, leading the Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Security Working Group, co-leading the Climate Working Group together with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is represented in the various other important working groups. The report forms part of efforts to ensure accountability towards our partners, beneficiaries and the general public.

The Sahel Alliance was launched in July 2017 and has been an undeniable success, bringing together a large number of development aid actors in the Sahel, allowing for strengthened coordination and cooperation that is more necessary than ever, given the challenges facing the populations of this region. A strong partnership has been established with the Permanent Secretariat of the G5 Sahel to jointly promote peace, stability and prosperity in the G5 Sahel countries (Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania and Niger).

The report was drawn up in partnership with the Sahel Chair of the Foundation for Studies and Research on International Development (FERDI). This report makes it possible to take stock of our collective action, to show the impacts of the projects/programs financed by Sahel Alliance members and to highlight the innovative approaches developed.

This conference will be an opportunity to highlight the achievements and accomplishments of the Alliance but also to discuss the challenges to be met to support the construction of a better future for all in the Sahel.

The conference panel will bring together the following high-level speakers from the G5 Sahel and the Sahel Alliance:

Their interventions will be punctuated by video reports and testimonies from the field.

You will be able to follow the event live and ask your questions to the panellists via the Sahel Alliance website: www.alliance-sahel.org.
